Volunteers from Know Thyself as Soul Vienna regularly cook at VinziPort in Vienna since 2020. VinziPort is a men’s emergency shelter for the homeless.
Each time we prepare a menu for around 30 people. The menus include a soup and a main meal with salad. For example: pumpkin soup, vegan soya goulash with potatoes and coleslaw; or vegan meatballs with a mustard dressing and mashed potatoes with fried onions and mixed salad; or cream of pea soup with vegan sausages, vegan meatballs, cabbage, mashed potatoes, and salad.
We use whatever donated food is in stock at VinziPort and we also have a regular supplier who donates vegan loaves and soy. We buy the rest of the products that we need to cook what is on our menu.
We really enjoy serving the food and it appears that the gentlemen enjoy the vegetarian meals, as they thank us for the food and ask us if we are coming back soon.
